Orca Watch 2022

Two orcas breaching the surface of a calm sea. This Saturday 28th May is the start of Orca Watch 2022. Over the following ten days Sea Watch Foundation will aim to collect as much data as possible on the whales, dolphins and porpoises in the coastal waters around North Sunderland and Northern Scotland (Caithness, Orkney, Shetland).

This wouldn't be possible without the help of volunteers - Orca Watch is a citizen science event and anyone can take part. Although registrations have now closed for official volunteers to help on this year's Orca Watch, you can still join any of the land-based watch groups and contribute.

For updates and information head to the Sea Watch Foundation website. You can also follow them on Facebook, TwitterInstagram and YouTube.

One of our partners, Steve Truluck, will be at Orca Watch with a selection of Opticron equipment available to buy. And really, what better way to test out a scope or pair of binoculars than by looking at whales?

Steve shares his whale-watching adventures on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
